Introduction

Some cards have sockets. During deck creation and sideboarding between matches, you can right-click a card with a socket to open the gem pop-up interface. Sockets and gems are divided into two categories: Minor and Major. A Minor socket can only be equiped with a minor gem, whereas a Major socket can facilititate either a minor or a major gem. Gems are available to any and all players (no kind of purchase of gems is necessary) and are permanent to all accounts (gems are not consumed). Like cards, gems are limited to 4 copies per deck (main board and sideboard combined). You can pick any of the available for the format gems (Standard and PvE only allow for the most current gems, Immortal allows for every gem introduced to the game unless it's banned). Even though equiping gems in deckbuilding is not subject to any kind of shard prerequisite, gem effects only take place if the player fulfills the gems' threshold requirements. For gems with Deploy effects, the player must have the threshold already. For persistent effects, the gem power remains inactive until you fulfill its threshold requirement. Gems don't rotate the same way as sets, but every odd set can see a change in gems. Such changes may include an unspecified number of gems rotating and others taking their places (from a single to all gems), gems being tweaked or even no change at all.

Example: Rotting Knight is a 2/1 troop that costs 3 resources and has a single socket. If you insert a Diamond gem that increase a troop's DEF by 2 and play it, then at any time you have at least one Diamond threshold it becomes a 2/3 troop. But if you insert a Ruby gem taht gives a troop Swiftstrike and play it, then at any time you have at least one Ruby threshold it becomes a 2/1 troop with Swiftstrike. Notice that unless specified otherwise, gems do not provide their added ability/stat to a troop that's in your hand or deck, even if you fulfill the gem's threshold requirement.

Gems

Them Gems available for Standard PvP and for PvE have rotated for the first time with Set 5 and now will rotate every odd set. However, all released gems are available for Immortal PvP.

Notes

For both PvP and PvE:

  • If you create a socketable card in battle, then it will have a random gem that you already fulfill the threshold requirement for.

For PvE:

  • The AI may use any gems regardless of format.
